You won't believe how many days a year employees waste on unproductive meet


AVERAGE EMPLOYEE WASTES 23 DAYS A YEAR IN POINTLESS 'UNPRODUCTIVE' MEETINGS (Crowne Plaza Hotel & Resorts/ TheSun.co.uk)

  • The typical staff member spends a total of 187 hours (23 days) per year in meetings
  • 56% of those meetings are generally 'unproductive'
  • 66% of those polled admitted to making excuses to avoid meetings
  • 10% pretend to get the time or date wrong to get out of going to a meeting
  • And 5% admit they call in sick to get out of a meeting entirely
  • About 75% of German employees admitted to making excuses to duck out of meetings
  • That's compared to 66% of French employees, and just over 50% of UK employees who said they do the same
  • More than 33% admit to zoning out during meetings that last too long
  • Nearly 25% say they've witnessed someone else falling asleep in a meeting, and the same number admit they've sent out personal messages during a meeting
  • Over 33% say they would get more enjoyment from a meeting with a relaxed atmosphere
  • And nearly 66% say mornings are generally the best time for meetings
