As the outlet notes, festival headliner Jason Aldean was performing on October 1, 2017, when a gunman opened fire on the festival grounds at 10:05 p.m. local from the 32nd floor of the nearby Mandalay Bay hotel and casino. In addition to the fatalities, 851 people were injured by the gunfire and while fleeing the scene.
