Chris Evans announced on Thursday that he'll no longer portray Captain America onscreen. "Officially wrapped on Avengers 4," Evans tweeted. "It was an emotional day, to say the least. Playing this role over the last 8 years has been an honor. To everyone in front of the camera, behind the camera, and in the audience, thank you for the memories! Eternally grateful." It's unclear who, if anyone, might take Evans' shield, although The Hollywood Reporter notes that characters currently portrayed by Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie in the Marvel universe have replaced Captain America in comic books. At any rate, Avengers 4 is scheduled to hit theaters on May 3.
