Donkey & Emu Fall in Love at Shelter, Must Be Adopted Together

A 6-foot-tall emu and a 5'5" donkey lived together on a few acres in South Carolina before their owner mysteriously vanished last week. The pair were taken in by an animal shelter in North Carolina, and when someone tried to adopt one of them, the donkey "started crying" and the emu "got frantic and paced around like an expectant father," reports The Charlotte Observer. The two animals are in love, it turns out. “They like to cuddle and even sleep together,” says Jennifer Gordon of Carolina Waterfowl Rescue. “We can’t separate them, so we need someone who is willing to adopt both a donkey and an emu. That may not be easy.”
