Having trouble remembering things? There's 1 food you need to be eating!

Hey garlic lovers, you may be plagued with garlic-breath, but science says there’s a new health benefit to eating it. According to anew study, eating garlic “helps counteract age-related changes in gut bacteria associated with memory problems.”

Researchers from the University of Louisville have found the boost comes from allyl sulfide, a compound known for its health benefits. The study on mice suggests that eating garlic every day could help “maintain healthy gut microorganisms and improve cognitive health in the elderly.” So basically garlic protects memory by improving gut health.

Older mice that were given garlic in the study showed better long- and short-term memory and healthier gut bacteria than the mice of the same age who didn’t get garlic. Researchers plan to continue studying this to understand more about gut health and cognitive decline and how garlic may be used as a treatment for aging in the future. So bring on the garlic, your future memory will thank you.
