A Rhode Island grandma's teenage dream just came true at age 97. CNN reports the nonagenarian attended her first prom last Friday thanks to her granddaughter and Pilgrim High School in Warwick, Rhode Island. Helen Danis couldn't afford to go to prom 80 years ago when she was in high school, so it had been on her bucket list. "I couldn't keep up with the kids," Danis told CNN affiliate WJAR. "I didn't really fit in. We were in the middle of a depression and money was scarce." Danis' granddaughter Julie Huddon has been helping her check items off of her bucket list, so she contacted Pilgrim High School's principal to get permission to attend--and even gave her a promposal. Danis was reportedly thrilled and danced the night away.
