New York Mets Hire 82-Year-Old Pitching Coach

On Thursday, the perennially snakebitten New York Mets fired their pitching coach, Dave Eiland. To replace him, they hired former Major League pitcher Phil Regan--who's 82 years old. As Bleacher Report notes, Regan pitched on the same Los Angeles Dodgers staff as Sandy Koufax and Don Drysdale, and faced the Mets seven times in 1969--the last year the Mets won a World Series. Regardless of how long Regan's tenure lasts, nobody can ever accuse the Mets of ageism.
