A woman battling cancer treated to a backyard makeover by First Responders!

A group of volunteers, including 15 law enforcement officers, worked together to create a relaxing backyard oasis for a Florida woman who’s battling cancer. Corporal Dean Peck with the Collier Sheriff’s Office visited a family friend, who has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer, and decided he wanted to do something big to help lift her spirits.

Knowing his buddy likes to sit out in the sun in her yard, he organized a backyard cleanup at her house. Some of Peck’s colleagues volunteered to help and friends outside the sheriff’s department joined in on the project as well. They pressure washed her house, laid down 100 bags of mulch, and paved the backyard with bricks.

In a Facebook post about the makeover, officers called the new space “a virtual oasis.”
