Slimming down 1 body part in particular could make sleep apnea better

According to a new study, losing tongue fat is something that can improve symptoms for people with sleep apnea, CNN reports. "In fact, the more tongue fat you lost, the more your apnea improved," says the lead author of the study. So, how do you reduce tongue fat? "This study shows reducing excess fat in general can reduce tongue size," said a sleep specialist not affiliated with the study. When researchers used MRI images to look at the effect of weight loss on obese patients, they discovered that lowering tongue fat was the main reason that apnea symptoms improved.
