Cell phone data shows Americans are doing pretty good on social distancing

Cell phone data shows that Americans are doing pretty good on social distancing. The company Unacast analyzed cell phone data to see how far people are traveling – a 40% or greater decrease in distance traveled earns an A grade, while a less than 10% decrease or an increase in movement is an F.

So how are we doing? The nation gets a grade of B.

  • The top five areas getting A grades are: Washington, DC, Alaska, Nevada, New Jersey and Rhode Island.
  • In the bottom five, Oregon and New Mexico both got C grades, Idaho and Montana earned Ds. The only state getting an F grade is Wyoming.
