Moose the dog is now known as Dr. Moose at Virginia Tech after the university bestowed an honorary doctorate degree on the canine for his volunteer work as a therapy dog. The 8-year-old Labrador Retriever received his degree during the school's virtual commencement event this past Friday. Moose has served as a therapy dog at the school for six years, participating in more than 7,500 counseling sessions and 500 outreach events. He's also struggled with his own hardships after being diagnosed with prostate cancer this past February. Since then, he's moved in with a Virginia Tech veterinary student while receiving medical care from the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine.
