Big Ten Reportedly Reconsidering Its Decision to Cancel Fall Football

According to The Wall Street Journal, the Big Ten’s Council of Presidents and Chancellors met remotely on Sunday to revisit the conference’s decision to postpone fall football and other sports seasons until 2021 because of the coronavirus pandemic. While the council neither took a vote nor scheduled one for the future, the fact that they even met to reconsider their decision sets up the possibility of a dramatic reversal by one of America's most prominent sports conferences. Some Big Ten fans and coaches have openly called for the conference to walk back its decision, and pressure has only increased as other major conferences--including the SEC, ACC and Big 12--have kicked off their seasons. President Trump has also urged the conference to get its games going, a stance that could prove politically helpful in a handful of Big Ten swing states.
