Baby With 10% Chance Of Survival Finally Leaves Hospital

A baby girl who weighed less than one pound and was tinier than her dad’s hand when she was born is finally going home from the hospital. Mirren Cook was given a 10% chance of surviving, but she has beaten the odds and surprised her doctors and now she’s thriving.

Mirren’s mother, Katie, had no problems with her pregnancy until she woke up one day at 25 weeks along and realized she couldn’t feel the baby moving. Luckily, she rushed to a local hospital in Scotland, where they diagnosed her with pre-eclampsia, a potentially deadly condition that causes high blood pressure. She had an emergency c-section, but Mirren was so premature, doctors weren’t certain she would make it.

But after four months in the hospital and five blood transfusions, this little fighter became stronger and now she’s finally out of the hospital. “We’re incredibly grateful to all the doctors and nurses that helped us and made it possible to bring Mirren home,” her mom says.
