- After hearing cries from his Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Gunnar, Richard Wilbanks found an alligator dragging the three-month-old puppy into a pond.
- The 74-year-old immediately jumped into the pond, wrestled the gator and pulled its jaws open so the pup could be freed.
- Wilbanks, who is being praised as the dog's hero said "Oh, it was just a shock. Instincts just took over. Adrenaline kicked in and I just went right into the water after the gator and Gunner."
