Doc Takes Zoom Call for Traffic Court while Performing Surgery

  • A surgeon in California decided to knock two things off his to-do list last Thursday by joining a Zoom call for traffic court - while performing plastic surgery on a patient!
  • In the Zoom call's video you see Dr. Scott Green, in scrubs, operating on someone who was out of the camera's view while machines beep in the background.
  • A courtroom clerk asked the surgeon "Hello, Mr. Green? Hi. Are you available for trial? It kind of looks like you're in an operating room right now." Green replied "Yes, I'm in an operating room right now. Yes, I'm available for trial. Go right ahead."
  • Even as Green is informed that his court appearance was being livestreamed on YouTube to abide by open court laws, he wanted to keep things rolling.
  • Doc's got his head down, performing surgery, when the judge hopped on the Zoom call, noticed what was going on and told Green "I do not feel comfortable for the welfare of a patient if you're in the process of operating." Green, thinking "no big deal" replied "I have another surgeon right here who's doing the surgery with me, so I can stand here and allow them to do the surgery also."
  • The Medical Board of California is now investigating the multitasker.
