City Workers Recover $30K Wedding Ring From Landfill For Couple

A San Diego couple can thank some city workers for miraculously finding a $30,000 wedding ring that was accidentally tossed in the trash. When the unnamed couple realized the ring had been pitched by mistake, they called to report it to the City of San Diego right away.

Environmental Services Department workers used GPS to determine the truck that had been in the couple’s neighborhood was already back at the Miramar Landfill. The couple went out to look at the site where the truck dumped it’s load of trash, but it was city workers who came through, quickly locating the diamond sparkler.

"It took all of four minutes to find the ring so that was pretty quick," city spokesman Jose Ysea says. "The employees who helped them look through the load were just ecstatic that they were able to find it, especially so quickly. For them to find it in four minutes, that’s incredible.”
