15-Year-Old Boy Doesn't Let Down Syndrome Stop Him From Playing With Band

From -- Rick Karle WVTM 13

The high school football season began a few nights ago.

The best performance on opening weekend?

It may have come from Logan Standifer.

Logan is mere 15 years old, yet he always gives it his all.

And last Friday, in his first high school marching band halftime performance, Logan absolutely killed it.

Logan Standifer has always loved music.

His dad Richard is a musician, an expert in Southern gospel.

His sister Mollie was in the Jasper High School (AL) marching band.

His mother Stacie? She’s always encouraged Logan to follow his dreams.

Last Friday night, the Jasper Vikings opened their football season.

That also meant it was the high school marching band debut of Logan Standifer.

The kid that hasn’t led Down syndrome shatter his dreams.

The kid who loves music almost as much as he loves theWWE

As the band took the field, Logan Standifer twirled his drumsticks.

His tom-toms and cymbal were attached to the guitar cart of his buddy AC Eaton.

As the band members came to attention, Logan knew that showtime was near.

He let out a classic silent scream.

You see, Logan didn’t want to disrupt the show, but his silent scream meant it was Go Time!

The Vikings Marching Band’s performance was spectacular.

And so was Logan Standifer.

The stickwork, the poise, the heart.

Logan pounded on his tom-toms with all his might.

What a Friday night it was.

The opening of high school football and a classic halftime show.

Jasper beat Mars Hill 35-6, and the football players high-fived after the victory.

Jasper freshman Logan Standifer received a few high five’s himself.

A memorable win was in the books.

A memorable marching band debut for a kid from Jasper was complete.

And so too was a memory of a lifetime.
