- Newlyweds Dedra and Doug Simmons have been both praised and criticized online for their decision to send invoices to eight people who didn't show up to their wedding for $240.
- The couple was recently married at Royalton Negril Resort and Spa, and before they could even book the venue, they had to pay for every single one of their wedding guests upfront.
- 109 were invited. Only 101 showed up at the wedding. So the couple created an invoice for two seats and shared it online with the caption "No Call, No Show Guest," adding "Because you didn't call or give us proper notice that you wouldn't be in attendance, this amount is what you owe us for paying for your seats(s) in advance."
- Doug Simmons explained, "If those eight people said, 'Doug, Dedra, we can't make it,' we would have totally understood it, would have been no problem."
- Simmons also said he wants this to be a "teachable moment" to those who had multiple chances to RSVP and didn't. The couple says it's not about the money; they're more hurt by the eight no-shows.
- While the couple has been praised for their "invoice," others have called their actions "broke behavior," saying they shouldn't have had a wedding they couldn't afford.
