A little boy in Massachusetts is proving age doesn’t matter when it comes to acts of kindness. Belmond Schwartz is only eight, but he’s already helping his community in a huge way this holiday season. Just days before Thanksgiving, he donated many weeks worth of food to the Mansfield Food Pantry.
The third-grader was inspired to give back to those in need after seeing homeless people living in tents during a trip to California. Belmond started collecting food donations back in September from neighbors and friends and also called on stores like Walmart, Stop & Shop and Target to give to his cause.
“There are a lot of people who don’t have food and I just wanted to help them in any way I can,” the kindhearted kid says. Belmond’s birthday is coming up soon and he says he doesn’t want presents because “I think if I help people, that it will make me feel good.”
