A disabled military veteran in South Florida is reunited with his missing service dog. Tavaris Washington’s service dog Jasher went missing on March 19th, escaping when a landscaper accidentally left the gate open at Washington’s Coral Springs home. The vet spent more than a week searching for his pup, but couldn’t locate him.

Washington later learned that Jasher was actually picked up by the Coral Springs Police Humane Unit on the day he went missing. They posted pics of Jasher online and after five days, sent him to a shelter. Washinton’s neighbors saw the post and told him, but by the time he contacted the Humane Unit, he was told it was too late for him to get his dog back.

Local private investigator Ana Campos heard about Washington’s predicament and jumped in to see if she could help. After some investigating and a lengthy back and forth with the Coral Springs Police, Campos succeeded in tracking down Jasher. Soon afterward, Washington received a message from the Humane Unit that they had his dog again and he could come and pick Jasher up. This week, the two had a joyful reunion. Washington is thankful to have Jasher back and grateful to Campos and his neighbors who helped them reunite.
