Emojis may be a fun thing to add to messages for family and friends, but did you know you could be aging yourself with the choice of emojis you use?
Well, apparently Gen Z is judging you based on your choice of emoji, and thatâs particularly true when it comes to the thumbs up emoji. While it may seem like an easy way to show your approval, apparently Gen Z doesnât see it that way. In fact, a 24-year-old recently shared on Reddit that a thumbs up should ânever (be) used in any situation,â noting itâs âhurtful.â
âNo one my age in the office does it,â he writes, â but the Gen X people always do it. Took me a bit to adjust and get [it] out of my head that it means they're mad at me.â
Overall, a new survey found that 24% of Gen ZÂ thinks the thumbs up emoji makes you look old, but it isnât the only one. The Top 10 emojis that make you look old include:
- Thumbs up (24%)
- Red love heart (22%)
- OK hand (20%)
- Tick (17%)
- Poo (17%)
- Loudly crying face (16%)
- Monkey eye cover (15%)
- Clapping hands (10%)
- Lipstick kiss mark (10%)
- Grimacing face (9%)Â

I'm thinking there might be some people that are way to sensitive.
