🐾 Remembering a Hero: Bretagne 🐾

📅 Flashback to 2016 📅

In her final walk into a Texas veterinarian’s office, 16-year-old Bretagne, the last known 9/11 search and rescue dog, received a heartfelt salute from a row of firefighters 👩‍🚒👨‍🚒.

🇺🇸 Ground Zero was her first mission with her owner and trainer, Denise Corliss. They worked tirelessly for 10 days 🕰️. Bretagne also participated in rescue efforts after Hurricanes Rita, Katrina, and Ivan 🌪️🌊.

After retiring, she continued to serve her community as a reading dog at a local elementary school 📚🐶.

Bretagne passed away on June 6, 2016, due to kidney failure 💔.
