đŸÂ Remembering a Hero: Bretagne đŸ
đ Â Flashback to 2016Â đ
In her final walk into a Texas veterinarianâs office, 16-year-old Bretagne, the last known 9/11 search and rescue dog, received a heartfelt salute from a row of firefighters đ©âđđšâđ.
đșđžÂ Ground Zero was her first mission with her owner and trainer, Denise Corliss. They worked tirelessly for 10 days đ°ïž. Bretagne also participated in rescue efforts after Hurricanes Rita, Katrina, and Ivan đȘïžđ.
After retiring, she continued to serve her community as a reading dog at a local elementary school đđ¶.
Bretagne passed away on June 6, 2016, due to kidney failure đ.
