š Ā Flashback to 2016Ā š
In her final walk into a Texas veterinarianās office, 16-year-old Bretagne, the last known 9/11 search and rescue dog, received a heartfelt salute from a row of firefighters š©āššØāš.
šŗšøĀ Ground ZeroĀ was her first mission with her owner and trainer, Denise Corliss. They worked tirelessly for 10 days š°ļø. Bretagne also participated in rescue efforts after Hurricanes Rita, Katrina, and Ivan šŖļøš.
After retiring, she continued to serve her community as a reading dog at a local elementary school šš¶.
Bretagne passed away on June 6, 2016, due to kidney failure š.
