Bailey Zimmerman teamed up with Chase Matthew to perform “Backup Plan,” his 2025 collaboration with Luke Combs, during a performance in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Zimmerman and Matthew took the stage at Birds Nest at the WM Phoenix Open on Wednesday (February 4). Matthew filled in for Combs, who joined Zimmerman on “Backup Plan” after the Illinois-born country star reached out to him in a text. Zimmerman said he immediately thought of Combs’ voice on the anthem, written by Tucker Beathard, Jimi Bell and Jon Sherwood. The song appears on Zimmerman’s 18-track studio album, Different Night Same Rodeo, in August. The project also included the title track, “Holy Smokes,” “New To Country,” “Comin’ In Cold” and more. See the video shared by Phoenix-based KNIX below.
Matthew is among the country artists nominated at the 2026 iHeartRadio Music Awards, returning this spring to Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California. See the list of country artists nominated here.
