A tornado hit near St. Libory weeks before her wedding. Hereâs what followed.
Graci Boersen had just moved into a new home with her mom in central Nebraska. Wedding plans were in place. Then an EF3 tornado hit.
They sheltered in the basement with their dogs. When the storm passed, the house was gone. Winds near 160 mph pulled it off its foundation. Inside, nearly everything was lost, including wedding décor, gifts, furniture, and personal items.
The timeline didnât change. The wedding is still weeks away.
Support started with family. A fundraiser went up to help replace essentials and cover gaps. Then others stepped in.
- Former brides offered décor and saved items
- Local vendors volunteered backdrops, table settings, and setup help
- The bakery where Graci works hosted a fundraiser
- Messages and offers came in from across the area
One detail stood out. Her wedding dress is safe. It was out for alterations before the storm.
Loss is still there. But the plan is moving forward with help filling the gaps.
