Friday Has a Little Extra Dolly in It 🎶✨

Friday Is Officially Dolly Parton Day

Friday, September 25, is getting a little more Dolly.

Cities across the country have declared the date Dolly Parton Day, recognizing Dolly Parton for her music, entertainment career and charitable work.

The date was not chosen by accident. September 25, written as 9/25, is a reference to Dolly’s classic song, “9 to 5.”

California has taken the celebration one step further. It became the first state to officially establish September 25 as an annual Dolly Parton Day. Dozens of cities and local governments are also recognizing the occasion. [goodmornin...merica.com]

The proclamations are not focused only on Dolly’s songs and movies. Many also recognize her work to help children build a love of reading.

Her Imagination Library, which started in 1995, has distributed more than 330 million free books to children around the world. The program sends age-appropriate books directly to children’s homes. [goodmornin...merica.com]

Communities are marking the day in different ways. Nashville plans to light parts of the city in pink and host fundraising efforts supporting literacy programs. San Francisco will hold a daytime celebration with live music, while New Orleans will feature a Dolly-themed parade through the French Quarter. [goodmornin...merica.com]

For fans, the day offers another reason to play a favorite Dolly song. It also highlights the work she has done away from the stage, including helping millions of children receive books of their own.
