Nello Ferrara was in line to inherit the Ferrara Candy Company, maker of Red Hots and Lemonheads.
Instead, he passed up the opportunity to travel the country as an amateur hockey player. Nello would often con his way onto rosters for a matter of days.
Ferrara played for 19 different teams between 2003 and 2014. Some of the tactics he employed to get hired included posing as his own agent, and sneaking onto the ice during a pro practice.
This is a classic story of a guy just following his dreams. Give it a read.
