TURKEY SEASON NEARS - CLASSES OPEN

Wild turkey hunting season is nearing.

Nebraska has a many turkeys. The state also offers many permits that are affordable. You'll find long seasons, public access and $8 permits for youth permits.

Spring archery: March 25, 2023 – May 31, 2023

Spring youth shotgun: April 8, 2023 – May 31, 2023

Spring shotgun: April 15, 2023 – May 31, 2023

Fall youth archery and shotgun: Oct. 1, 2023 – Nov. 30, 2023

Fall archery and shotgun: Oct. 1, 2023 – Nov. 30, 2023

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is offering a program to teach skills needed to hunt, field dress and cook wild turkey. These classes are intended for people 16 years of age and older who have little to no wild turkey hunting experience.

It is a two-part workshop. The class is scheduled from 6-to 9 p.m. on March 9 and 16, at Olofson Shooting Range, near Polk City.

Youth Season (residents only): Apr 7 - 9, 2023

Season 1: Apr 10 - 13, 2023

Season 2: Apr 14 - 18, 2023

Season 3: Apr 19 - 25, 2023

Season 4: Apr 26 - May 14, 2023

Resident Archery-Only: Apr 10 - May 14, 2023

All seasons are half-hour before sunrise to sunset.
