🦃 Turkey Day Calories: You Won't Believe the Numbers! 😲

Thanksgiving is here, and let's be honest, it's all about the food! 🍗🥧 Sure, spending time with loved ones is great, but the real stars of the holiday are the mashed potatoes, gravy, turkey, and pies. And guess what? We're more than happy to indulge! 😋

While calories might be the last thing on your mind, new research from Levity reveals just how many we're consuming. Spoiler alert: it's a lot! 😲

According to the report, the average American eats around 2,092 calories at Thanksgiving dinner. But that's not all! Some folks are planning to chow down on 3,000 to 5,000 calories. That's way more than the USDA's daily recommendation of 1,600 to 3,000 calories. 😱

And the feast doesn't stop there. With all those leftovers, the average person will consume another 2,270 calories in the days following Thanksgiving. Some even plan to eat up to 5,000 calories worth of leftovers! 🥴

So, what's on everyone's plates? Roasted turkey tops the list, followed by mashed potatoes and stuffing. But not everyone is sticking to tradition. About 30% of Gen Zers are skipping the roasted turkey this year.

As for the least favorite foods? Cranberry sauce, deviled eggs, collard greens, green bean casserole, and creamed spinach didn't make the cut. When it comes to dessert, apple pie beats pumpkin pie as the favorite. 🍏🥧
