Hershey Bears Teddy Bear Toss Breaks Record—And It’s Adorable
If you’ve never seen a hockey game turn into a stuffed animal avalanche, you’re missing out. The Hershey Bears hosted their 25th annual Teddy Bear Toss on Sunday, and it was bigger than ever.
Here’s how it works: fans bring stuffed animals to the game, then wait for the Bears to score their first goal. When that puck hits the net, the crowd goes wild—literally tossing thousands of teddy bears onto the ice.
This year, Louie Belpedio scored that magic first goal, and the toss began. He said, “It’s cool. Obviously, it’s for a great cause and they take pride in it. A ton of bears fly, more than I’ve ever seen. So, it’s definitely exciting to see it and help clean up and interact and jump in the piles.”
So how many bears flew? A jaw-dropping 81,796—a new record!
And it’s not just for fun. Every single bear is donated to more than 60 local organizations, helping kids and families who need a little extra comfort.
