 Let’s hear it for big sisters! Social media is finally acknowledging older sisters as the backbone of society for their unrelenting ability to see what needs to be done and doing it. They are described as responsible, dutiful, hands-on, thoughtful, and caring, and have assumed this role since they were young. A UNICEF study found that girls between ages 5 and 14 spend 40% more time on domestic work than boys.

But while they seemingly can do it all, big sisters can feel overburdened too. Many who struggle with “older sister syndrome” often feel overwhelmed by their to-do lists, because they feel the weight of the world on their shoulders.
