Purse made out of nothing but air and glass debuts at Paris Fashion Week — and it weighs as much as a light bulb

That’s what Coperni, a Parisian fashion brand, unveiled at its Fall 2024 show during Paris Fashion Week. The Air Swipe bag is a revolutionary accessory that is made of 99% air and 1% glass, using a special material called silica aerogel.
Silica aerogel is the lightest solid in the world, and it’s often used by NASA for space missions. Coperni collaborated with NASA to create the Air Swipe bag, which is the largest object ever made of this material. The bag has a ghostly, transparent look that makes it seem like it’s floating in the air.
The Air Swipe bag weighs only 33 grams, which is the same as a regular lightbulb. It’s perfect for busy moms who don’t want to carry heavy purses around, or for fashionistas who want to make a statement with a unique and futuristic accessory.
Coperni is known for its innovative and daring designs, such as the dress that was spray-painted on Bella Hadid’s body in a previous show. The Air Swipe bag is another example of how Coperni pushes the boundaries of fashion and technology."
