Mattel has announced a new line of Barbie dolls honoring world-class female athletes. The honorees include tennis champion Venus Williams and eight other notable athletes: gymnasts Rebeca Andrade and Alexa Moreno, soccer players Mary Fowler and Christine Sinclair, boxer Estelle Mossely, swimmer Federica Pellegrini, paratriathlete Susana Rodriguez, and sprinter Ewa Swoboda. The project aims to highlight the role of sports in promoting self-confidence, ambition, and empowerment among young people, and Williams, who has won seven Grand Slam singles titles, says that mission resonates deeply with her.
