In case you didn’t know, 2025 is the year of Putricia, the “world’s most foul-smelling flower.” In Sydney, Australia, thousands have flocked to the Royal Botanic Garden for a chance to catch a whiff of the nasty-smelling plant, which is also known as the “corpse flower.” This year’s blooming is the fifth ever documented, and the first one to happen since 2010. So far, around 20K people have shown up hoping to catch a glimpse and get a nose full of that corpse-y goodness. Incidentally, the people that show up to smell a flower they know is stinky are probably the same people who stick around in a room after someone announces that they’d just farted…just so they can say, “Yeah, you did!”…instead of just leaving like a normal person.
