Several organizations in Omaha are opening cooling centers in response to the extreme heat this week. These locations offer air conditioning and water to help people cope with the high temperatures.
Several Salvation Army locations are opening cooling centers, including the ones at 2424 Pratt St, 3612 Cuming St, and 2825 Y St. These centers are open Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
Open Door Mission is providing a cooling center and also offering resources like fans, sunscreen, and bug repellent.
- North Corps is also operating a cooling center at 2424 Pratt St, open Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
Heartland Family Service is also participating, with centers at 3300 N. 60th St Building B in Omaha and 3415 W. Broadway Suite B in Council Bluffs, IA
