Gas prices in much of the country are lower than they've been in awhile, but that doesn't mean you should stop looking for ways to save money when you fill up. Try these tips:
- Properly inflated tires can improve gas mileage by more than 3% per tire, according to AAA
- Remove the junk from your trunk. Seriously. Every extra pound of...stuff...in your car or truck makes the engine work harder, and raises fuel consumption. Time to clean that bad boy out
- Stop driving like a maniac. Quick starts and rapid acceleration uses more fuel, and that adds up over time
- And, finally, it doesn't hurt to shop at places that offer you "fuel points" or other discounts. You're going to grocery shop anyway; might as well save at the pump when you do
