In today's world, time is always a factor. Let's say you want to exercise, get on that path to better health, but as you look at your day, you just don't have time. Do you have 30 seconds? If so, consider a "micro-walk." Micro-walks take only 10 to 30 seconds to be beneficial. According to experts, the benefits lie in the short bursts of energy. People can burn more calories, increase their metabolic rate, and enhance endurance and strength. In fact, researchers found that people who took micro-walks were expending as much as 60-percent more energy than those who took longer walks covering the same distance. And if you have a little more time, another walking trend that has recently gained momentum involves alternating between low-intensity and high-intensity walking for three minutes over the course of 30 minutes or more. Also, be aware that science has lowered the daily step goals considerably. Researchers have adjusted the optimum daily steps goal for those looking to get healthier from 10-thousand to 7-thousand steps a day.
