Hamburger Helper is making a comeback!
The New York Times reported that the budget-friendly boxed pasta mix, once a staple of 1970s kitchens, has seen sales climb 14.5% in the year through August.
The brand also got an extra boost this summer from a cameo in the hit Hulu/FX series The Bear, where Sydney (Ayo Edebiri) creatively elevated a Cheeseburger Macaroni dish, sparking viral TikTok recreations.
The rebound comes as Americans look for ways to stretch meals in the face of higher grocery bills, echoing the product’s original rise during the inflationary 1970s.
Eagle Foods, which purchased the brand from General Mills in 2022, has refreshed Hamburger Helper with new flavors like Spicy Jalapeño Cheeseburger, quicker cooking times, microwavable cups, and a breakfast line to stay relevant. With most boxes still priced around $2, families can prepare a full meal for roughly $10.
