Teacher Goes Viral For Custom Handshakes With Students!

David Jamison II, a teacher at Power Center Academy Southeast Elementary School in Memphis, Tennessee, has gone viral for greeting each of his students with personalized handshakes, high fives, and toe taps. Known online as “The Dope Educator,” Jamison recently returned to teaching after four years working as a recruitment advisor. He previously taught fifth grade and now teaches third-grade English, a particularly meaningful role since he was held back in the third grade himself. His classroom ritual is meant to strengthen student connections and create a positive, engaging start to each day.
