Which of these basic tasks can you actually do? Can you get a stain out of your clothes? Navigate outside using a compass? Repair your car’s engine? Pew Research polled Americans on what basic tasks they can and can’t do – and we’re a pretty confident bunch:
- 95% say they can treat a stain in their clothes.
- 88% say they can calculate a tip at a restaurant in their head.
- 83% say they could grow a vegetable garden.
- 76% say they could navigate outdoors using a compass.
- 69% say they could weatherproof doors and windows.
- 29% say they could repair a car engine.
Guys are way more confident than women in the ability to perform a bunch of these tasks. And even for the traditionally “female” tasks, they believe in themselves. For example, 93% of men say they could treat a stain in their clothes.
