We all want to look good in photos, right? The way you pose can have everything to do with this. At least that’s what posing expert Christine Buzan says. She knows a thing or two about looking powerful and confident in photos, as her job is “to make sure [people] look and feel their best when taking photos.”
It doesn’t matter if it’s a picture for a dating app, a group photo, or a professional headshot - here’s what to do to look more powerful, confident, and comfortable in every picture you take.
- Be mindful of your posture: Stand tall and let your arms fall naturally
- Find your universally flattering angle: Angle your body, as it’ll add a degree of depth
- Shift your weight: It gives a sense of movement to your pose
- Show the sides of your hands: Your pinky or your thumb should face the camera
- Push your forehand out: Yes, tilt it towards the camera
- Angle your face: Subtly shift your face to one side
- Cut the “cheese”: Instead, say money, yoga, or hey
