If you’ve ever looked at your dog and thought, “You deserve a vacation,” you’re not alone. According to Tripadvisor, pet friendly travel is having a major moment. Bookings for dog‑approved activities have jumped more than 260 percent, and people are planning entire trips around what will make their pups happiest.

This isn’t just tossing a dog bed in the backseat. Travelers are choosing destinations based on four legged fun, comfort and unique experiences. Think electric bike sidecar tours in Monterey Bay or dog friendly trail rides in Sedona.

Basically, if your dog can enjoy it, someone has already booked it.

It’s not only the pups getting in on the action. Adventure travel is booming across the board. Glacier tours, lava field excursions and heli hiking are all seeing big spikes. Heli hiking is exactly what it sounds like. You get dropped by helicopter into a remote, gorgeous location and hike your way through scenery most people never see.

It seems like everyone is craving a little more excitement this year, whether they have two legs or four.

After a few years of slower travel, people are ready to explore again. And since pets became emotional support MVPs during stressful times, it makes sense that more travelers want to bring them along.

Plus, let’s be honest. A vacation is instantly better when your dog is there to enjoy it with you.
