If you ever needed a sign that great wine doesn’t have to cost a fortune, Aldi just delivered it with a bow on top.

A Big Win for a Small Price

Aldi’s Elliot Cooper Chardonnay was just named Wine of the Year in the 2026 Product of the Year awards. The part that makes everyone do a double take is the price. It’s only $9.65. That’s less than a takeout lunch.

More than 40 thousand consumers voted, so this wasn’t a tiny panel of wine experts swirling glasses in a quiet room. Real people chose it.

What’s Inside the Bottle

This Chardonnay comes from California and is produced by Trinchero Family Estates in Napa Valley. It sits at 13.5 percent ABV and is aged in both French and American oak.

If you’re into tasting notes, here’s what people love about it: bright fruit flavors, hints of brioche and toasted almond, a little vanilla, a little spice, and a creamy finish that feels way more expensive than it is.

And yes, it’s only at Aldi.

Aldi’s Winning Streak

This isn’t the first time Aldi has impressed wine lovers. The International Wine and Spirits Competition recently recognized the store for its value-focused wine selection.
