If you’ve ever joked about running away on a cruise ship, well… some people are actually doing it. And not just for a week. They’re signing up for 15 years at sea.
Villa Vie Residences has a ship called the Odyssey, and they’re calling it the first “perpetual world cruise.” Instead of booking a vacation, you basically move in. Think of it as swapping your house for a floating neighborhood that just keeps going.
And this isn’t bare‑bones living. The ship has a spa, fitness center, pickleball courts, a library, restaurants, and even an on‑board doctor. You can decorate your cabin to make it feel like home. The only thing missing is mowing the lawn.
Here’s the part that makes people stop scrolling. An inside villa starts around $129,999, and a suite can go up to $439,999. There are monthly fees, but even with those, it’s still cheaper than buying a home in a lot of cities right now.
Founder Mikael Petterson says the idea is simple: what if “home” was wherever the ship docks next? Over 15 years, residents will visit 147 countries. Imagine waking up, grabbing coffee, and stepping out to a brand‑new view every day.
