Hi, my name is Maddie and I am an 11-year-old Shih Tzu. I was used many years to breed litter after litter of puppies, never enjoying life outside of a cage. Now that I am at my foster mom’s house, I’ve learned my favorite things are fluffy dog beds, toys, and playmates. All those years in a cage have left some emotional scars. I am still timid, though, I love a good scratch on the chin. I light up when you call my name, with a tail wag and even a joyful bark, but my foster mom says you still must go slow with me. Little kids move just a little too fast and it can startle me, so I would do best in a home without young kids. I need a family that is willing to work with me to bring me the rest of the way out of my shell. I love going to meet and greets and being with people and other dogs. Everyone comments on how beautiful I am, and that just makes me so happy that my tail just wags and wags. I love other dogs and I am the best puppy sitter. I don’t mind when foster pups jump all over me and I even let them snuggle in my dog bed with me. I have been in rescue since July and for Christmas I would really love a home of my own!
I’m a “senior” dog, so my adoption fee is $200. I am spayed, microchipped and up to date on all my vaccinations. If I’m adopted by a senior, my fee is only $150!
