When Jim and Maureen Nelis got married in January, they planned a beautiful honeymoon to Italy. That changed when he moved in to Maureen’s home and brought his plants. Between them there were extra, so they painted some pots and put them on some steps.
Soon neighbors were asking if the couple could do the same for their homes and when all was said and done, the Nelis’ spent their honeymoon fund on beautifying the neighborhood. The 60-something Mrs. Nelis said "Instead of going some place to look at something beautiful, and then come home and still not have any flowers here, we forgot about the honeymoon and put the money back into the neighborhood." Jim is 84, but he and his bride are continuing the work and they’ve met all of their neighbors in the process!
The whole block pitches in with watering and maintaining the plants and they’ve all gotten to know each other. This couple certainly knows what “Love Thy Neighbor” is all about.
