When Laura English’s husband, Bill, found out his kidneys were failing, she felt like she had to do something to help, so she started a Facebook page called “Be Our Daddy’s Hero,” to try to find him a kidney donor. And it took some time, but eventually, Amy Pauvlinch read about Bill’s story and was so moved, she immediately reached out to Laura.
“I just knew that this is something that I had to do,” Amy explains. She says she felt it in her heart and told Laura she wanted to give her husband her kidney. The women spoke for several weeks before Amy met the family and had testing to see if she was a match. Luckily, she was and last month she successfully donated her kidney to Bill.
“It’s amazing. I feel like a whole new person,” Bill says. “I felt good right away. Once I was out of the anesthesia, I was in the best mood I’ve been in in like three years.”
