Beluga Whale Makes Surprise Appearance in River Thames Outside London

On Tuesday, a beluga whale was seen swimming in the River Thames, just 30 miles east of London. The RSPCA animal welfare group says it's "working with other agencies to monitor the situation" and has sent researchers to the scene to keep the whale from getting stranded. Beluga whales inhabit the arctic waters off Greenland, Norway's Svalbard islands and the Barents Sea, between Norway and Russia. Experts have suggested that the whale may have become disoriented by storms and ended up in England.
