A boy hopes to help keep folks warm in Colorado this winter

Winter is coming and it’s already freezing in Colorado, but a nine-year-old boy from Lakewood is doing his part to help keep people warm out there. Alex Reins saw a news story last year about a person getting discharged from the hospital and they had to wait at the bus stop in the snow wearing a hospital gown and socks and he wanted to do something to help prevent that.

So the kid enlisted help from three generations of his family to knit warm hats for anyone who needs one. So far they’ve made over 300 hats and scarves in what they’re calling Alex’s Warm Hat Project. Now he’s learning the value of donating his time to help those less fortunate.

“I just want to help more people,” the kind hearted boy explains. “There could be a lot of people out there like that.”
