SMILE FILE: OFFICER RESPONDS TO BOY'S 911 DINOSAUR EMERGENCY
A sheriff's deputy in Florida is being recognized and celebrated for his act of kindness to a young boy who had called 911 to report that he needed dinosaurs.
A 911 dispatcher received a call from a young boy in the Orlando area who said he needed a dinosaur. The dispatcher took a moment to explain to the child what real emergencies are, but still dispatched a deputy to his house just to check on him and his family.
But on his way to visit the boy, the deputy stopped at Target and bought a couple of Jurassic Park toys to bring over.
Once he had the boy's attention, he explained to him what a real emergency is and when he should call 911. That's when the boy reported that lizards in the backyard “chase him and his little brother all the time.”
The deputy also posed for a photo with the boy and his dinosaurs, which was later shared on Facebook. (Orange County Sheriff's Office)
