How To Go Into 2023 In Productive Mode

Lots of us have been embracing “goblin mode” and the self-indulgent behaviors that come with it. So much so, it’s been named “word of the year,” as we recently told you. And while it’s been fun lounging, snacking and binge-watching TV, as this year comes to a close, many people are ready to be more productive in the new year.

And that’s where “sprite mode” comes into play. It’s basically the opposite of goblin mode as it’s all about getting things done and achieving goals. Ready to snap out of goblin mode and be more “sprightly” in 2023? Here’s what experts recommend.

  • Embrace a new attitude - The new year is the ideal time to switch up your mindset, according to life coach Natalie Trice. She recommends leaving the goblin “that zaps your energy and leads you to be angry and resentful” in the past and leaning into “a new path where your goals are clear and you’re ahead of the competition.”
  • Work smarter, not harder - Being productive doesn’t have to be exhausting, if you do it right. Figure out where you want to be in one, three, six or 12 months and put the actions into motion that will get you there.
  • Start small - Get the ball rolling by making small goals of what you want to achieve and kick-start this productive mentality. Be realistic about what you can achieve and find tasks that will help you be more productive so you can get it done.
  • Think about what you really want - To become more intentional, ask yourself these questions to help you explore the way you want your life to look, so you can set goals that are intentional, not random:
    • How do I want to feel every day?
    • What do I want to do with my days?
    • What do I love doing that I want to do more of?
    • Who do I want in my life?
    • What do I want to spend my time doing?
